Baked Leche Flan (Whole Eggs)

This recipe I searched and research because of lacking "Llanera" here in Norway and then my cousin said you can used the baking pan instead of llanera and oven instead of steamer.  Then I try and it was good!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup white sugar (or alternative of syrup, then skip step 2)
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream (*krem flotte 4.7 dl)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
  2. In a small nonstick saucepan, heat the sugar over medium heat. Shake and swirl occasionally to distribute sugar until it is dissolved and begins to brown. Lift the pan over the heat source (4 to 6 inches) and continue to brown the sugar until it becomes a dark golden brown. You may slightly stir while cooking, but continually stirring causes the sugar to crystallize. Pour caramelized sugar into a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish or a large loaf pan, and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan evenly. (But if you have syrup already you just skip this step and just pour the syrup in to the pan evenly.)
  3. In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, cream, milk, eggs and vanilla. Blend on high for one minute. Pour over the caramelized sugar.
  4. Place the filled casserole dish into a larger pan and add 1 inch of HOT water to the outer pan. Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until set.

About

I create this blog to somehow help me understand the way Norwegian cooked their middag!  Most of the recipe here can be purchased from Rema 1000 as it is near and convenient in my place where I currently live, and/or maybe available also in any ordinary grocery store here in Norway.  By the way I'm a Filipina blogger living in Norway, but somehow I celebrate how I learn their way of living in terms of cooking food in this modern Norway cuisine.  Most of the recipe here, especially the sauces are already mixes that is available in grocery with particular brand, but this blog are open to all who have their idea of cooking it from scratch to finished, which is very good!  Comments and suggestions are also welcome here because I'm not really professional in cooking, I'm just a typical mother who win the taste bud of my husband and kids which is my primary goal.  Takk for maten! :D
